Baptism?

Before Jesus returned to heaven after his death and resurrection, he commanded his church to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). How? By baptizing and teaching everything he commanded. Jesus places high importance on baptism. Why? What does it do? Is it for you? Is it for children?
